The Killers are almost ready to unveil their newest record and we gotta say…it’s about time, fellas!
Four long years after they released their last hypnotic blend of distorted guitars and heavy synths on Day & Age, the Las Vegas natives have decided to call their latest album Battle Born.
Frontman Brandon Flowers explained that the title has more than a little significance to them. Not only is the expression used as a nickname for Nevada and the name of their studio, but Flowers says:
“In a sense, all Americans are battle born. Our ancestors came here for something better.”
We like the sound of that! Good explanation, sir!
Bassist Mark Stoermer hinted a little bit more toward what the band’s fans are in for when talking about the fourth studio album. Some should be happy to hear that The Killers are returning to a heavier rock sound, as Stoermer shared:
“We technically started last May, but we’ve been doing it in pieces, and it’s kind of taken a while to feel it out and figure out what it means to be a band again, because we took so much time off. Stylistically, it’s pushing in more of a rock direction than the last album. But we’re also doing something we haven’t done before. It’ll definitely sound like us.”
We’re excited to hear the first single! We have no idea what the release date is yet, but Stoermer let it slip that the upcoming album may be ready in time for August.
